Flood wall supplied for Mississippi 2011 flood. Canadian Pacific Rail Road ordered 350 feet of modular precast T walls to protect the St. Paul switching yard.

Crest Precast Concrete offers freestanding Tee walls for Corn & Hay silage and they may be used for storing any bulk material. These sections are manufactured with 6,000 psi concrete and sections are solid thru out to provide a very durable product. Units are reinforced, engineered and manufactured to the highest standards.

Note: Bunker silos are constructed to be filled to the top with a only a small angle of repose, overfilling can be dangerous and also exceed engineering.

Other dangers of bunkers can be from tipping of equipment while packing, and cave in of materials while unloading and undermining the stack. Only educated operators should perform work in and around bunker silos.

Sept. 23, 2010 when heavy rains hit South Central WI. from Arcadia to Black River Falls.

This bridge was constructed on Brockway Road, Jackson County on a road owned by the Ho Chunk Nation. It replaced a failed metal culvert that was damaged. The roadway was completely destroyed and the Bureau of Indian affairs decided precast was the logical choice as they had experience working with Crest Precast in 2009 a mile south of this project at which another bridge was constructed.

16' SPAN x 8' HIGH x 58' LONG 3 SIDED Hy Span (tm) BRIDGE was designed for 8' of cover and pavement. Each bridge section weighed 17.4 tons. Construction included precast footings and wing walls.

Precast sections can be placed in any weather as they are produced in a controlled plant environment. Crest Precast has been a certified NPCA plant for 15 years running, this gives the customer satisfaction they will receive a quality product built to proper engineering standards.

Crest Precast Inc. La.Crescent, Minn. hosted a La.Crosse, Wisc. School District class at our Precast Plant.

The class is a physical science course on chemistry and simple machines. The summer education program is for ESL (English as a Second Language ) students and has 17 - 6th graders largely composed of Hmong heritage 1st and 2nd generation immigrants from Thailand and Laos.

Teachers Karla Lawrence and Linda Mader take many field trips over the 4 week course to include a waste to electrical energy plant, electronics robotics class at the local technical college, county fair tour, bowling, swimming and a boat tour of the Mississippi river.

The students were instructed on the mix design and chemical heat reaction of concrete, examined hoist pulleys, wire mesh benders and band saw operation. The instruction explained how jagged aggregates were formed from crushing and smooth aggregates shaped from river flows. The event culminated in each student casting a decorative garden paver using multi colored rock and special stones. Personal cast pavers were delivered to the school for each student.

The event proved to be successful when the next day the students corrected a 4-H judge in the correct term of concrete instead of “cement” pavers. The students voted to choose the box pipe picture as the class record DVD cover photo. Teachers stated there is nothing better than real life examples of concepts introduced in the classroom and showing students what a future careers are available.

Really Kwik - Crest Precast supplies tanks for Kwik Trip I-90 Nodine

Kwik Trip of La Crosse, Wis., wanted to build a travel center at the former site of a truck stop along Interstate 90 north of Nodine, Minn. Plans called for a restaurant seating 56 people, a coffee bar serving hot food and showers for truck drivers.

The solution involved a grease interceptor, two septic tanks, a flow equalization tank, sampling manholes, two film activated sludge treatment units, a dose tank and two drain fields. All tanks made by Crest Precast Inc., La Crescent, Minn.

Crest Precast constructed a 36 unit Afgan village for a training area at Fort McCoy, WI. This project consisted of rooms cast with colored concrete. Installation also included precast tunnel sections. Sections are reinforced and use 6,000 psi concrete.

This area will be used in 2010 to train combat troops in entry and search methods. We are proud to supply such a important component for our troops.

Dual-textured sound wall provides finishing touch to U.S. 52 rebuild

A 225,000-sq.-ft., dual-textured sound wall was recently completed as part of a three-year project to rebuild U.S. 52 through Rochester, Minn. It involved reconstruction of three interchanges, addition of one more, and widening of the entire 11-mile portion — and at $232 million, it became Minnesota's largest-ever single-outlay for a road project. Barneveld, Wis.-based Crest Precast Inc. supplied 3,000 precast panels and 800 precast posts and caps for the sound wall, comprising 20-ft.-high walls embedded in a caisson and 10-ft. walls surface mounted by means of an anchor bolt and plate system.

The first project in Minnesota incorporating a dual-textured panel, both sides feature identical designs to accommodate viewers from any vantage point. Casting panels in a vertical gang form provided equal stone texture on both faces. Formliners manufactured specifically for the project and a two-color staining system applied after erection contributed to the finished look. National Precast Concrete Association- and Minnesota DOT-certified, Crest designed the texture and obtained state and city approval of final sound wall plans.

Precast Concrete Grease Interceptor installed in Little Chute, WI

An Oil and Grease removal system to reduce high strength wastewater was installed at Bel Brands USA spreadable cheese plant in Little Chute, WI. Using two 15,000 gallon Crest Precast Concrete interceptors manufactured with Xypex 1000 admixture and coated with Wasser MC tar for PH protection.

These tanks also have large 5' x 5' hatch doors installed to facilitate pumping and are furnished with a Simtech tru-core inspection system. Each tank weight was at 98,000 pounds and precast ballast tie downs where also installed. The system was designed by McMahon Engineers of Neenah WI. 1-262-246-7181.

The Engineer concluded after bench testing the gravity separators by Crest would perform and be installed at a 44% of the cost of an induced air floatation system. The gravity system also has a lower operating cost which?removes 88% of the oil and grease and 65% of the TSS.

The Village of Little Chute limits oil and grease to 100 mg/L and these tanks receive an average of 25,000 gallons per day during production.
